Estonia is prepared to strike Russian territory in the event of aggression against a NATO country, according to Major General Vahur Karus, Chief of the General Staff of the Estonian Defense Forces. This was reported by ERR.
Karus noted that before the war in Ukraine, Estonia had expected to hold out for 10 days in the event of a Russian attack while waiting for NATO assistance. However, there have been significant changes in the country’s military strategy.
The new plan includes the possibility of launching strikes on Russian territory in response to an attack.
He emphasized that Estonia no longer plans to wait for an attack but is ready to act preemptively.
The general stressed that the Estonian army will work closely with NATO allies, who play a key role in the country's defense plans.
Karus also clarified that each allied country has a responsibility to provide specific weaponry and fulfill combat tasks in the event of war.
