The Finnish government will allocate €100 million to purchase American weapons for Ukraine under the PURL initiative.
According to Yle, citing Helsingin Sanomat, the government led by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo determined the financial contribution Finland will provide through PURL (Priority Ukraine Requirements List), which allows NATO member states to buy U.S. weapons for Ukraine.
Orpo announced that Finland is committing €100 million to the PURL initiative.
Earlier, Finnish Defense Minister Antti Kaikkonen had confirmed the country’s intention to join the initiative but did not disclose the contribution amount.
“The situation in Ukraine is extremely critical. We must participate. We cannot stay on the sidelines when all Northern European and Baltic countries are joining,” Orpo said when announcing Finland’s PURL contribution.
