A few days ago, with the help of NASA satellites, up to five fires were recorded in the exclusion zone.
In Kyiv and at two nuclear power plants, a slight increase in the concentration of cesium in the air was found, which "is not a significant cause for concern."
This is stated in a message on the page of the International Atomic Energy Agency on Twitter.
"Ukraine reported to the IAEA that firefighters were trying to put out forest fires near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. In Kyiv and at two nuclear power plants, a slight increase in the concentration of cesium in the air was found, which is not a significant cause for concern," the report says.
It is also noted that the IAEA continues to cooperate with the nuclear regulatory authority of Ukraine to obtain additional information on the fire situation near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
