The Ukrainian Ground Forces have announced expanded opportunities for foreign volunteers who decide to sign a contract with the Armed Forces.
“Certain formats introduced in 2022 served their purpose during the most critical period of the country’s defense, allowing the rapid integration of foreigners ready to join the ranks. At the same time, the frontline situation, the structure of the Defense Forces, and the needs of combat units have changed significantly,” the announcement reads.
The Ground Forces explained that the approach to employing foreign volunteers is now evolving. The key principle of the new model is the “most effective use” of foreigners’ experience, motivation, and professional skills in the units where they are needed most.
Foreign volunteers will have broader opportunities to serve – including the right to choose their combat brigade, mission type, and deployment according to their training, experience, and preferences, the military announced.
“This ensures better integration, equal opportunities with Ukrainian servicemen, and a more rational use of personnel resources,” the statement added.
