The Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater represented Ukraine on the global theatrical stage. This year, the play Caligula, based on Albert Camus’s work and directed by Ivan Uryvskyi, was part of the International Theater Festival in Dublin, Ireland.
The festival featured six sold-out performances of the play, which received significant acclaim from the international audience. Attendees included members of the Ukrainian and foreign diplomatic corps, prominent theater critics, curators, and specialists from around the world. Caligula was highly praised in the international press.
During their stay in Ireland, the Franko Theater team participated in a discussion platform on “Modernizing the Classics and Producing Plays Under Extreme Conditions and Tight Deadlines,” organized in collaboration with the Trinity College Dublin student theater and the TCD Ukrainian Society. Additionally, theater actor Oleksandr Rudynskyi held a masterclass titled “Finding the Character” for Trinity College students.
A major achievement was that Caligula was selected to participate in the international theatrical platform PROSPERO New, funded by the Creative Europe programme.
