Georgia is not imposing sanctions against Russia, and the country allegedly has very strong arguments for this decision.
This was stated by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, as reported by "Echo of the Caucasus."
"We have a very clear position on this matter: we do not impose sanctions - and we have very strong arguments for this. At the same time, Georgia is not being used to bypass sanctions," he said.
Additionally, according to the Prime Minister, Georgia supports Ukraine "politically, providing it with powerful humanitarian aid," and Georgia has "exceptionally friendly relations with the Ukrainian people."
According to the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, Brussels wants Georgia and Ukraine to have "better relations."
"If something happens (between Ukraine and Georgia), the only one interested will be Russia. And, of course, I will do everything to convey to the Ukrainian side this signal that Georgia cares about its interests," he said.
Borrell also stated that discussions about a "second front" are a "long story" and "no one is seriously considering it."
