The Ministry of Infrastructure is defining project and terms of the concession for the port of Izmail with a potential private partner: the Georgian Industrial Group Holding (GIG).
This was reported by the press service of the department following a meeting on the implementation of the concession project.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister Vladislav Krikliy, the Director of the Reform Support Team of the Ministry of Infrastructure Irina Koshel, the Director of Izmail MTP State Enterprise Andrey Erokhin, General Director and Founder of GIG David Bezhuashvili and other representatives of the Ministry, USPA and Ernst & Young.
The meeting participants discussed the state of preparation of the concession project and listened to the intentions of a potential private partner to develop an appropriate feasibility study (FS).

Izmail Commercial Sea Port is located on the left bank of the Kiliya estuary of the Danube River in the Odessa region. The berth line of the seaport is 2.6 km long and includes 24 berths and 5 onshore terminals. The facility is served by one railway station with three railway entrances.
The cargo turnover of the Izmail port in 2019 amounted to 4.3 million tons, in 2020 - more than 3 million tons. The throughput capacity of the port's terminals reaches 9.3 million tons, the existing passenger complex is capable of serving 150 thousand passengers per year.
