The foreign ministers of the G7 countries will discuss comprehensive support for Ukraine during their meeting in Japan. This includes the topic of an air defense shield.
Annalena Baerbock, the German Foreign Minister, made this statement.
"Ukraine has been and remains at the top of the G7 agenda," she said.
According to her, an incredible amount is at stake, not only for Europe but for the G7 as a whole.
"If we were to falter in our support for Ukraine now, Putin would ruthlessly exploit that, with terrible consequences for the people in Ukraine and Europe," Baerbock stated.
She also noted that other actors in different world regions might draw the wrong conclusions.
"This is why it is so crucial for us, as the G7, to steadfastly and comprehensively continue our support for Ukraine. For instance, we will collectively continue working on the air defense shield for Ukraine"
