The German government is providing up to 50 million euros for the reception and treatment of injured Ukrainian soldiers.

According to a statement on the German government’s website, future costs for inpatient treatment of war injuries will be covered and paid for by the Federal Office of Administration without bureaucratic procedures.

"For two and a half years now, people have been dying every day in Ukraine due to the bloody war initiated by Putin. Many soldiers and civilians suffer horrific injuries. From the beginning, it was clear to us that we would support Ukraine and those experiencing unimaginable suffering. We have already evacuated 1,173 severely injured and wounded Ukrainian soldiers and civilians and provided them with assistance in German clinics. This aid is a humanitarian imperative – and we continue to provide it with all our might," says Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser.

The German government emphasizes that Germany remains firmly on Ukraine's side and pledged at the beginning of 2022 to receive injured individuals for treatment in Germany.

German clinics support the government's decision and are doing outstanding work, leveraging their experience in treating Ukrainian soldiers.

The statement highlights that the reception and treatment of soldiers is a significant contribution to supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.

"The reception procedure and the structure of aid in recent years have led to a number of administrative difficulties and issues with documentation for the victims, hospitals, and local authorities. These problems must be resolved through a joint initiative by the federal government," the statement notes.
