Since August 2024, more than 5,000 ships have passed through the maritime corridor to the ports of Odessa, and revenues from the region's port infrastructure have reached 60% of Ukraine's overall port-related economy, Odesa Regional Military Administration head Oleh Kiper said during the national telethon.
According to Kiper, despite continued Russian attacks on port infrastructure, grain export volumes have grown.
"Even though we're working ‘on the fly,’ we’ve increased our volumes — even in grain — to levels higher than before the full-scale invasion began. And we’re doing it truly ‘on the fly’: some things are being restored, some repaired, approaches are changing. I’ll say it plainly — it’s crazy. People are physically carrying products themselves. They’re not loading a ship in 24 hours, but in 48–72. But we’re doing it. We are economically supporting the entire country today," he emphasized.
Kiper noted that 60% of all Ukrainian exports now go through Odessa’s ports, which is a major driver of national development. As a result, regional authorities are constantly working to expand and upgrade port infrastructure.
He also pointed to an increase in the number of international companies cooperating with the ports of Odessa region.
