The full identification of approximately 6,000 bodies of fallen defenders handed over by the Russian side may take at least 13–14 months.
This was announced on a television broadcast by Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko.
The minister noted that in total, the Russian side has handed over 6,060 bodies.
"I can only roughly assess the situation, as the analysis is still ongoing—what condition the remains are in and how many bodies are actually contained in the bags provided by the Russian side. But according to the most conservative preliminary estimates by our specialists, identifying these approximately 6,000 bodies will take at least 13 to 14 months," Klymenko said.
He emphasized that this timeframe is the minimum needed for full identification.
According to him, all the relevant services—forensic medical experts, investigative units, and expert teams—are working in three shifts to complete this task as quickly as possible.
