On October 16th, Georgia's court found President Salome Zurabishvili guilty of violating the constitution, and the matter will be sent to parliament for impeachment consideration.

According to Georgia Online, six out of nine members of the plenum supported the impeachment of the president, while three expressed their special opinion, which will be appended to the decision.

Merab Turava, the head of the Constitutional Court, stated that the president violated the constitution on August 31, as well as on September 1 and 6, during her official foreign visits by exercising her representative powers in foreign relations without the government's consent.

According to Article 52 of the Georgian Constitution, the president should exercise representative powers in foreign relations with the government's consent. However, Zurabishvili visited EU countries without receiving permission from the governing body.

Following the court's decision, the matter of impeachment is forwarded to the parliament. To remove the president, it requires the votes of 100 deputies, but the "Georgian Dream" party has only 84 mandates.
