An exhibition about the occupied Mariupol by Russians, scheduled to take place in the Italian city of Modena, has been canceled. The decision was made by the city authorities following a corresponding appeal from the Ukrainian side.
According to Oleg Nikolenko, a representative of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Modena city administration revoked the permission to hold an exhibition portraying the "flourishing" of Mariupol, which has been under Russian occupation since the spring of 2022.
"We sincerely welcome this decision. We are grateful to both the city administration and Ukrainians in Italy who did not allow Italian society to be misled about the consequences of Russian crimes in Mariupol and Ukraine," emphasized the spokesman.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also called on other cities worldwide not to provide venues for similar Russian provocations, stating that this would be a significant contribution to Ukraine's victory over Russian aggression.
To recap, on January 4th, it was revealed that in Italy, in the city of Modena, there were plans to hold an exhibition dedicated to the "prosperity" of Mariupol during the Russian occupation.
The event was set to feature a presentation by Italian journalist Andrea Lucidi, who produced propagandist pieces. The organizers of the event are supporters of the Russian Federation, and the consul general of Russia intended to speak during the event. On January 5th, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the embassy had sent a request to Italy to cancel the scandalous exhibition depicting the "restoration" of Mariupol temporarily occupied by the Russians.
