Restorers from the "Thousand Doors of Odessa" project have restored 19th-century doors in the Stifel brothers' house on Deribasivska Street.
They restored lost elements of the wrought-iron grilles and brass handles with lion motifs and oak grips. The intricate carvings on the entry doors were also restored.
The restorers recreated the paneled strips with capitals that adorn the doors on both sides. The static door leaf was secured with authentic bolts. The doors are coated with azure and oil to protect the wood from UV rays and microorganisms.
The "Thousand Doors of Odessa" project was launched in February 2019, with specialists restoring and recreating authentic doors and gates in the city, promoting the preservation of cultural heritage.
