Today, Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, visited the Lisova Polyana Centre for Mental Health and Rehabilitation of Veterans, located in Pushcha-Vodytsia.

Lisova Polyana is a centre where veterans and Ukrainian defenders are treated and rehabilitated. The centre’s specialists provide comprehensive rehabilitation and psychological support.

At the centre, Iryna Vereshchuk took part in a strategic session on modernising state policy for veterans.

The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, the Ministry for Veterans Affairs, the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ministry of Economy, the Office of the President of Ukraine, representatives of NGOs and charitable organisations, and others.

Participants discussed the rehabilitation and reintegration of veterans. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, local authorities and communities will play an important role in returning veterans to civilian life.

Among other things, the meeting focused on identifying problems in veterans’ policy and finding workable solutions. This is particularly true when it comes to physical and mental rehabilitation. Equally important is the issue of socio-economic integration.

“Our task as a state is to do everything possible to ensure that veterans feel dignified, safe and trusted. That is why we need to improve and develop a quality state policy for veterans,” concluded Iryna Vereshchuk.
