Japan wants to transfer technologies related to renewable energy sources to Ukraine, specifically focusing on biofuel production.

This information was reported by Tokyo Shimbun.

"The government has begun coordinating efforts to provide Ukraine with technologies related to renewable energy sources as a means of support while the country continues to face invasion from Russia," the material states.

The publication notes that the project is based on biofuel production technology. For Ukraine, an agrarian country with abundant raw material resources, it has been determined that this project will contribute to industrialization for recovery.

The plan is expected to be presented as a unique contribution during the "Japan-Ukraine Conference on Economic Reconstruction," scheduled for February 19 in Japan. The goal is to reach an agreement between the Ukrainian side and a Japanese technology provider.

Japan, unable to provide military support like Europe and the USA, will focus on the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine. It is expected that Japanese companies will provide technology for production and related equipment.

Biofuel is produced from agricultural crops and livestock waste. As it is used for electricity generation, it attracts attention as a technology contributing to decarbonization.

"If the business takes off, it will become a promising export commodity," said a representative of the Japanese government.

They are also considering the possibility of future exports to Europe, which, they hope, will help Ukraine earn foreign currency. Currently, the government is listening to the wishes of the Ukrainian side before creating a Reconstruction Support Council.
