The Japanese government announced additional sanctions on Friday against several individuals and entities in response to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
This was reported by The Japan Times.
A total of 33 organizations and 12 individuals are subject to asset freezes, in accordance with Japan's foreign exchange and foreign trade law. Among them is also one North Korean citizen. Additionally, 53 organizations from various countries, including Russia and China, have been imposed with new export bans and other measures.
Starting from January 23, Japan will also ban the export of 335 more goods to Russia, including small motorcycles and components for special vehicles such as cranes.
It is noted that the goal of these new restrictions is to strengthen Japan's response to North Korea's support and Russia's use of third countries to circumvent sanctions.
Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi stated at a press conference that the additional steps are intended to support international efforts for peace.
"Japan will continue to work in cooperation with the international community, including its Group of Seven partners," he added.
