The Scandinavian retailer JYSK will open a new non-traditional store in Ukraine, which will literally be located underground.

This was announced by the Country Director of JYSK in Ukraine, Ievgenii Ivanytsia, on LinkedIn.

The top manager shared that the store in Kharkiv is closed for more than 50% of the working hours due to air alerts, as the safety of employees and customers is a priority for the company.

"However, reality is changing: Kharkiv residents are paying less attention to the alerts and are increasingly frustrated by the inability to make purchases due to such restrictions," Ivanytsia noted.

At the same time, instead of closing the store in the city, JYSK chose a different path.

"A non-standard, but logical one: open another JYSK store in Kharkiv! The new store will be located on the -3 floor of the ‘Nikolskiy’ shopping center, in a space that meets the requirements for a basic shelter. This means that customers will be able to safely shop even during an air alert," Ivanytsia explained.

February 7, the company signed the lease agreement and plans to open the new store in the spring of 2025.
