North Korea is currently Russia's main military ally in the aggression against Ukraine, and it will be extremely difficult for Russia to fight without arms supplies from North Korea. This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense Kirill Budanov during a nationwide marathon United News.
"The main military ally of Russia now is North Korea, which supplies them with huge volumes of weapons. This is critically important for them, and without it, it will be very difficult for them to fight. Critically difficult, I would say," said the head of the Directorate.
According to him, the circle of countries supporting Russia has become and does not change much. But the assistance from Belarus or Iran is quite limited. The governments of these countries support Russia, but they haven't completely lost their minds, the head of the Directorate noted.
Expanding this circle, in his opinion, is unrealistic. Russia tried to work with countries in Africa, Asia, and even Latin America, but it didn't have much effect. For example, from Cuba, they received some mercenaries and spare parts for aviation, but "it's not serious."
But North Korea is a "real problem," emphasized Budanov.
