Last year in Poland, over 5,000 cyberattacks against the armed forces' networks were recorded. Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization of Poland, Krzysztof Gawkowski, and Deputy Minister of National Defense, Cezary Tomczyk, reported this during the INSECON Congress in Poznań on cybersecurity threats, according to Bankier.pl.

"In 2022, we had 30,000 cybersecurity incidents in Poland. In 2023, there were already 80,000 such cases. This is an increase of over 100%, and the first quarter of 2024 indicates an increase in cyberattacks that we need to counter," noted Krzysztof Gawkowski.

He added that this is especially important in the context of critical infrastructure, emphasizing the significant role played by the Polish army in cybersecurity, where this component is highly developed.

In turn, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Cezary Tomczyk, stressed that last year in Poland, over 5,000 cyberattacks against the armed forces' networks were recorded.

"These cyberattacks are directly related to the activities of the Russian Federation, as well as Belarus," added Tomczyk.

"Today, each of us has a smartphone, sometimes a smartwatch, a second phone; each of us is susceptible to this type of activity. Not only when holding a public office but also as an ordinary network user. And as a state, we must do everything to secure both citizens and all systems in the Polish state," he noted.

He added that Poland is one of the three most frequently cyber-attacked states globally.

"And Poland rises to the occasion because lessons have been learned in this matter," he said. The politician also thanked the soldiers dealing with cybersecurity.
