Lithuanian authorities are strengthening security measures at strategic infrastructure facilities amid potential sabotage threats. Ahead of the disconnection from the Russian energy system, the government assures that Lithuania will not be left without electricity under any scenario, as reported by LRT.

Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas stated that authorities are modeling various critical situations but emphasized that energy supply to consumers will be ensured in all cases.

"We have considered all scenarios, including operation without interconnection lines. These reserves have been thoroughly assessed, and scenarios A, B, C, D, and so on have been developed," said the Deputy Minister.

Deputy Minister of Energy Arnoldas Pikžirnis confirmed that even in the event of losing interconnection lines, Lithuania would manage its energy supply. The authorities have developed several contingency plans and are assessing all reserves necessary for the stable operation of the system.

On Wednesday, the Lithuanian government decided to accelerate the transfer of the LitPol Link transmission line's security to the Public Security Service. This connection with Poland will synchronize the Baltic states with the continental European energy system in February 2025. Previously, a private security company guarded this line.

Thus, Lithuania is preparing for the final severance of energy ties with Russia by strengthening control over critical infrastructure.
