An example of the direct link between Ukraine's struggle and Lithuania's security is the redeployment of Russian troops from the Kaliningrad region, which borders the Baltic country.
This was stated by Lithuanian Defense Minister Laurynas Kasčiūnas at the 10th Kyiv Security Forum for Youth.
"You heard about the Suwalki Gap, which we consider a very weak point near our territory. We are analyzing the presence of Russian troops in Kaliningrad and see that it is empty there. Why? Because they have removed troops from the Kaliningrad region, and they are now fighting on the battlefield in Ukraine. They are also fighting against Ukrainians in the Kursk region in Russia," he explained.
Kasčiūnas emphasized that the redeployment of troops from Kaliningrad is a connection between Ukraine's struggle and Lithuania's security.
"A couple of months ago, they talked about the militarization of the Kaliningrad region. This directly depends on your struggle, which is breaking the Russian war machine, pushing Russia out of other corners of the world, and preventing it from implementing other possible scenarios that would threaten us directly. This is evidence of how your struggle helps us," said the Lithuanian Defense Minister.
