Russia’s massive airstrikes on Ukraine highlight the urgent need for reliable security guarantees from allies.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wrote about this on social media platform X.
“On Sunday night, Russia launched a brutal attack on Ukraine, taking the lives of innocent civilians in residential areas and damaging the Cabinet of Ministers building. My thoughts are with the wounded and with all those mourning their loved ones. A just and lasting peace for Ukraine will require reliable security guarantees. Sunday’s treacherous strike only underscores the urgency of this task,” Carney stated.
He recalled that during his visit to Kyiv in August,
“As I affirmed alongside Prime Minister Svyrydenko in the same building that was damaged last night, Canada stands with Ukraine and Putin’s unrelenting aggression will never weaken our resolve. .”
“Canada is steadfast in its commitment to the Coalition of the Willing and its willingness to deploy direct and scalable military assistance in support of upholding a ceasefire and lasting peace,” the Prime Minister assured.
