Over the past several months, a large group of countries, including Australia and Japan, has been working on security guarantees for Ukraine.

This was reported by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in an interview with Fox News.

“Over the past several months, a group of 30 countries, including Japan and Australia, has been working on the concept of security guarantees for Ukraine. The initiative is led by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron,” said Rutte.

According to him, the guarantees will take effect after a long-term ceasefire or a full peace agreement. The role of the United States will be discussed in the coming days.

After the summit at the White House on August 18, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that European countries, in coordination with the U.S., will develop security guarantees for Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the formalization of the guarantees will take place within the next ten days.

The head of state also noted that 30 countries, part of the “Coalition of the Determined,” are participating in his draft security guarantees.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that after peace is established, Ukraine will be able to conclude defense agreements not only with EU countries or the U.S.
