The American aerospace company Maxar Technologies is restoring Ukraine's access to its satellite images. This concerns the Global Enhanced GEOINT Delivery (GEGD) program.
This was reported by Militarnyi and confirmed by several users of the service. This applies to both government and private users.
It is noted that Maxar is restoring the accounts of Ukrainian GEGD users. This is a programme that provides access to commercial satellite imagery that was designated and collected by the U.S. government.
Let us recall that after the U.S. halted military aid to Ukraine and the transfer of intelligence data, Maxar Technologies disabled Ukraine’s access to its satellite images.
Satellite service users received a notification that access to Maxar services was suspended "at an administrative request." In fact, the access restriction was a consequence of a decision by the U.S. presidential administration.
It is worth adding that Maxar is one of the main providers of commercial satellite images for Ukrainian users regarding the movement of Russian troops. Images are also used to confirm the results of strikes on Russian targets.
