In October 2024, MET Ukraine began importing electricity from Slovakia to Ukraine. The company plans to import electricity from other EU countries soon. This was announced by the company’s press center, as reported by ExPro.
"We firmly believe that the energy business in Ukraine has enormous growth potential. In addition to the business rationale, supplying electricity can help Ukraine cope with the current energy deficit," said Serdar Karliyev, CEO of MET Ukraine.
Attila Shanislo, CEO of MET GEM, stated:
"We support Ukraine, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in their path towards full integration into European energy markets. We firmly believe that sooner or later these markets will be fully integrated with all the necessary conditions to the European energy markets."
MET Ukraine, with an office in Kyiv, was founded in 2016 and employs seven people. For the last eight years, the main activity of the Ukrainian subsidiary of MET has been the supply of natural gas to wholesale consumers as well as the retail segment of the Ukrainian market. Additionally, MET uses Ukrainian gas storage facilities.
Along with its subsidiaries in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, MET Ukraine is part of MET GEM (MET Gas and Energy Marketing), which focuses on emerging markets.
