The Polish government has secured a 2.8 billion zloty ($700 million) investment from Microsoft to strengthen cybersecurity, develop cloud technologies, and advance artificial intelligence. This was reported by Wprost, citing the results of a meeting between Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Microsoft President Brad Smith.

Poland is one of the most frequently targeted countries in Europe by cybercriminals backed by foreign governments. Microsoft’s collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense aims to develop new solutions to protect against hacker attacks, particularly in the context of the upcoming presidential elections in May. The project will leverage cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies, according to the report.

Part of Microsoft’s investment will go toward expanding data centers. Between 2020 and 2023, the company invested $1 billion in Polish data centers. Now, it is launching the second phase of the project, which is expected to be completed by summer 2026, Smith confirmed.

Additionally, Microsoft will introduce an educational program to train one million Poles in modern technologies, including artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, by the end of 2025. The initiative will primarily support educators, IT specialists, and managers who will implement these technologies in their respective fields.
