Montenegro expels a Russian diplomat

Since the beginning of the year, Western countries have expelled more than 550 Russian diplomats.


The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro declared an employee of the diplomatic mission of Russia persona non grata. Vijesti newspaper reported this

The Russian ambassador to Montenegro, Vladyslav Maslennikov, was presented with an official note. The diplomat must leave the country within seven days.

Montenegro, together with the European Union, joined the sanctions against the Russian Federation after it started a war with Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has not yet reacted, but Moscow usually reacts in a mirror manner.

Since Russia's military invasion of Ukraine, Montenegro has twice expelled Russian diplomats — one at the end of March, and four at the beginning of April.

Just since the beginning of the year, Western countries have expelled more than 550 Russian diplomats.
