Commander of the Ground Forces, Mykhailo Drapatiy, has officially taken command of the Operational and Strategic Group of Forces Khortytsia.
This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"I thanked Major General Andriy Hnatov for his work in Operational and Strategic Group of Forces Khortytsia, and he will continue his service as Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Syrskyi added.
According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, today the Russian army is concentrating the majority of its forces on the directions within the operational zone of Operational and Strategic Group of Forces Khortytsia. The task of the Defense Forces is to hold the line, inflict maximum losses on the Russian forces, and care for the Ukrainian defenders.
"I have set the primary objectives to withstand the pressure of the superior enemy. We are working together," Syrskyi emphasized.
Mykhailo Drapatiy
At the beginning of the war with Russia in 2014, Drapatiy served as the acting commander of the 2nd Mechanized Battalion of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade. In May, under his leadership, the 2nd Battalion entered Mariupol on armored vehicles to reinforce the units.
Since August 2016, he has been leading the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade, which carried out combat missions in the Avdiivka and Yasynuvata districts of Donetsk region.
From July 2017, Drapatiy led operations along the Bakhmut Highway in the ATO zone.
Afterward, until January 2024, he commanded the operational group Kherson, and in February, he was appointed Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In May of the same year, Drapatiy became the commander of the Operational and Tactical Group of Forces Kharkiv, and in November, he was appointed Commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
