Mykolaiv and Berlin’s Tempelhof-Schöneberg district have signed a partnership agreement and officially become sister cities.

This was announced by the Mykolaiv City Council on Telegram.

“Mykolaiv has signed a partnership agreement with the Berlin administrative district of Tempelhof-Schöneberg. The event took place on June 13,” the statement said.

It is noted that Deputy Mayor Serhii Korenev represented the city council at the signing ceremony in Berlin.

Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych recalled that in May 2025, a memorandum was signed that laid the foundation for the transition from a solidarity partnership to permanent municipal cooperation.

The city council added that the sister cities have already achieved tangible results through their cooperation. In particular, students from Youth Sports School No. 5 represented Mykolaiv in Berlin, while students from a Mykolaiv university presented the film “Mykolaiv: Yesterday and Today” at the REC Berlin Fest.

Overall, the two cities have implemented numerous joint initiatives over the past year. Cooperation continues between the municipalities, as well as in the fields of economic development and water infrastructure, with support from the Mykolaiv Water Hub.

The city council emphasized that this is another step toward Mykolaiv’s integration into the European space, the development of international partnerships, and the creation of new opportunities for its residents.
