On Monday, cybersecurity agencies issued a joint warning that North Korean hackers are actively attempting to steal data on construction projects and technological developments in South Korea. This warning was provided by the Korean Cybersecurity Intelligence Community, which includes intelligence agencies, prosecutors, police, and military, as reported by Korea Times.

According to authorities, the stolen data is used by North Korean hackers to build factories and develop infrastructure back home. This year has seen a sharp increase in attempts to steal such information by North Korean groups.

Official data reveals that hackers are employing a "watering hole" technique, which involves infecting frequently visited websites and embedding malicious code to collect information. This method targets a broad range of victims, making it particularly dangerous.

Last month, the South Korean Cybersecurity Agency, along with colleagues from the U.S. and the U.K., issued a warning about a North Korean cyber espionage campaign aimed at gathering secret information in critical sectors such as defense, aerospace, nuclear energy, and manufacturing.

These measures underscore the growing threat posed by North Korean hackers, necessitating increased vigilance and international cooperation to protect key informational resources.
