Naftogaz Group will receive funding from Norway for gas procurement, with the funds provided through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
According to Naftogaz’s press service, CEO Roman Chumak emphasized the importance of this support for energy system resilience, thanking Norway and the EBRD for their consistent assistance.
The financing is part of a broader aid package aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s energy security. In total, Norway is allocating approximately €380 million for gas procurement, power grid restoration, emergency generators, and nuclear safety.
"In addition to weapons and ammunition, what Ukraine needs most urgently is energy support. In Kyiv, people often have no access to electricity for many hours a day, which has a significant impact on their daily lives. Energy support, including funding for the purchase of gas, is therefore an important component of Norway's assistance," said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
