The Director of Odessa Film Festival (OIFF) Julia Sinkevych said that so far there are no plans to postpone the biggest festival of cinema of the Black Sea. She announced this during an online debate âThe Future of Film Festivalsâ for the KinoTalk project, organised by Impact Hub Odessa.
âI canât make any official statements yet, because our chosen dates are July 10-18, and it still seems possible even under these conditions. But our team has been considering various options over the past few weeks, depending on how the situation develops.
We consider both the online format, and the combination of formats, and the transfer of dates. Therefore, with regard to the announcements, I think we will announce some of our news within two weeks for sure,â the OIFF Director said.
However, the problem of funding for OIFF is very acute. Actually, most of the budget depends on private partners, and the business - small, medium and even large - was hit hard, these times.
And, as far as public funding is concerned, "now there is a big question mark, because at the moment it is planned to revise the budget." But Julia Sinkevych claimed: âIn this moment, Ukrainian cinema needs support more than ever.â
