Last weekend at the Paralympics in Tokyo, Roman Polyansky from Odessa won the gold medal in rowing in PR1 class, the first to overcome the distance of 2000 metres.


Polyansky is the first athlete in the history of Ukraine who became a two-time Paralympic champion in rowing.

Also, two more Odessans won silver and bronze in air rifle shooting (10 m, SH1 class). Andrey Doroshenko won 2nd place (individual competition among men), and Irina Shchetnik - 3rd place (individual competition among women).
