Military expert Oleg Zhdanov expressed this opinion on the air of Radio NV.
“For us, this is very good, but for them it is terrible. Putin has not changed his goal of the offensive in the Donbass, and he continues to say that the Donetsk and Lugansk regions remain a priority. Therefore, the military is trying to come up with some other way, but at any cost fulfill the tasks set by the political leadership of Russia," the expert said.
He also added that the Russians have no maneuver to change course in Ukraine but can only create a second direction - a false one, to divert attention.
"But for this, forces and means are needed, which they do not have today," Zhdanov said.
"By the way, in all other directions, except for Donetsk, they began to regroup troops - that is, the replacement of those troops that we had already smashed, with more or less "fresh" ones, which they selected and understaffed," he said.
Speaking about the visit to the front line of the chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov, Zhdanov noted that this indicates bad enemy's condition.
"I think he came to figure out why the tasks he sets are not being fulfilled, why the troops are still marking time and not moving forward, as it was written in the combat orders. Let me remind you that, according to some information, he put his own military career. Therefore, it was very important for them to come, see and figure out what was going on," the expert said.
