Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets has criticized the "weak" response of international organizations to the recent Russian shelling in Ukraine, particularly the attack on Dnipro on April 19.
He shared this on his Telegram channel.
"I have sent appeals to the structures of the UN, Council of Europe, OSCE, ICRC, other international organizations, national human rights institutions, colleagues of ombudsmen, as well as to 50 human rights committees of parliaments around the world to publicly condemn such actions and to provide assistance to Ukraine, including additional air defense systems. However, I have not seen a worthy reaction from the international community," he said.
According to Lubinets, after the latest missile strike cynically carried out by Russia on Dnipro and its region, the reaction of the world community has been "quite weak."
"Such behavior of international partners encourages Russia to continue killing the Ukrainian people. Chernihiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, and other cities and towns of Ukraine are subjected to terrorist attacks day by day," he stated.
The ombudsman expressed surprise at how Russia continues to participate in UN Security Council votes and how it aligns with the organization's principles of operation.
"We must not allow the killing of civilians to become a norm without a worthy and decisive response! Impunity for barbaric actions will provoke the spread of Russia's aggression not only to Ukraine but far beyond its borders. Ukrainian skies require additional means of protection," he emphasized.
