The Russian army continues to shell settlements in the Kursk region of Russia, where there are no Ukrainian military forces, causing confusion among the local population.
This was stated by the spokesperson for the Operational Tactical Group Siversk, Vadym Mysnyk, during a telethon.
According to Mysnyk, Russian troops continue to carry out massive shelling of Ukrainian-controlled territories in the Kursk region, despite the absence of Ukrainian military forces in these settlements. Local residents do not understand the reasons for such attacks.
"The local population does not understand why they are being shelled by the Russians, as there are no Ukrainian troops nearby. However, the locals are suffering; they are forced to hide in basements for several hours, and sometimes they spend half a day there."
The spokesperson emphasized that Ukrainian soldiers provide residents of Ukrainian-controlled territories in the Kursk region with water, food, and medicine. Moreover, Ukrainian forces are trying to restore water supply and electricity, including with the help of generators.
"All this falls on the shoulders of the military, as we adhere to all the requirements of international humanitarian law and ensure that the local population has everything they need," noted Mysnyk.
