In October, over 24,000 hectares of land were surveyed and cleared of mines and explosives, making it available for agricultural use. Since the beginning of the year, state services and operators have surveyed more than 289,000 hectares of agricultural land, with over 255,000 hectares already handed over to farmers for operation.
"De-mining agricultural land remains one of the government's key priorities. Each hectare cleared of mines and returned to farmers means jobs for local people, contributes to the economic development of the region and the country, and restores the country's export potential. Together with our partners, we continue working on strengthening the capabilities of operators and creating conditions to accelerate the country's land clearance efforts," said Ukraine’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko.
The most land has been cleared in the following regions:
- Kherson region: 19.6 thousand hectares in October, 230.4 thousand hectares since the beginning of the year;
- Mykolaiv region: 2.4 thousand hectares in October, 16.5 thousand hectares since the beginning of the year;
- Kharkiv region: 1.3 thousand hectares in October, 21.5 thousand hectares since the beginning of the year.
In October, 66 mechanical demining machines and 789 pyrotechnic teams, totaling over 4,000 specialists, were involved in humanitarian demining and operational responses.
