During the performances in Tokyo, the national team of Ukraine won 98 medals: 24 gold, 47 silver and 37 bronze. Team Ukraine included 59 female athletes and 80 male athletes participating in 15 sporting disciplines.


The competition programme of the 2020 Summer Paralympics has been completed. On the last day of the competition, medals were drawn in five sports, which summed up the type of medal count and formed the top 10.

The biggest number of medal for Ukraine got in swimming - 43 medals (14 + 18 + 11), and in second place athletics - 24 (6 + 15 + 3). At the same time, in the shooting, the Ukrainians shared first place with China in the number of medals - six.

In terms of the total number of awards showed its second-best result during the Paralympic Games. And in the medal standings, Ukraine finished in sixth place - ahead of China, Great Britain, the United States, the RCC and the Netherlands.

For the national team of Ukraine, this is the second most productive Paralympics in terms of the number of medals, but for the first time since 2004, the blue-yellow national team dropped out of the top 4 medals. The last time Ukrainians finished in sixth place was in Athens in 2004.

In Tokyo 2020, Ukraine set a record for silver medals and repeated the result of Beijing and Athens in the number of gold medals.

The Paralympics 2020 in Tokyo has ended. Thanks to our athletes, Ukraine again showed a high result and took 6th place in the overall standings! Our Paralympians won 24 gold, 47 silver and 27 bronze medals.

The most titled Ukrainians of the 2020 Paralympics

23 Ukrainian athletes won more than one award during the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo. Swimmers became the leaders in the number of medals won, and Maksym Kripak even won the "personal medal standings".

  • Andrey Trusov (swimming) - 6 medals (2 + 3 + 1)
  • Elizaveta Mereshko (swimming) - 5 medals (2 + 2 + 1)
  • Denis Ostapchenko (swimming) - 3 medals (1 + 1 + 1)

During the closing ceremony, the flag of Ukraine was carried by a two-time Paralympic champion in the shot put Vasyl Kovalchuk. In Tokyo, the 48-year-old athlete won two awards: "silver" and "bronze". Now he has four Paralympic medals. During the ceremony, the traditional transfer of the Paralympic flag to the next host city of the Games - Paris - took place.
