The Deputy Head of the Office of the President, Ihor Brusylo, held a meeting with a delegation of U.S. Congressional aides and the Representative of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Ukraine, Karolina Lindholm Billing.
The meeting was attended by Congressional aides from both the Republican and Democratic parties, specifically the aides of Andy Harris, Dusty Johnson, Marcy Kaptur, Cory Lee Mills, Joe Morelle, Jason Crow, Keith Alan Self, and David Valadao.
The U.S. delegation visited Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia, witnessing firsthand the consequences of Russian aggression and humanitarian needs.
Ihor Brusylo emphasized the importance of preserving bipartisan support in the U.S. Congress and ensuring maximum assistance to Ukraine.
"American weapons and financial support have become a key factor in our ability to confront the aggressor. Today, more than ever, it is important to preserve this unity and continue to assist Ukraine in its fight for freedom and democratic values," the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office noted.
Among other things, the parties discussed the issue of internally displaced Ukrainians who lost their homes due to Russian aggression. More than 5 million people were forced to leave their cities and villages, while there is an increasing trend of Ukrainians returning to the de-occupied regions.
Ihor Brusylo called on the UNHCR representatives to continue supporting internally displaced persons in Ukraine and abroad.
During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on the importance of bilateral dialogue between the United States and Ukraine in the face of an active disinformation campaign by the aggressor country.
"Russia persistently manipulates facts and spreads misinformation. Therefore, direct dialogue between our countries is crucial in order to understand the real situation on the ground," Ihor Brusylo stressed.
The Congressional aides praised the extraordinary resilience of Ukrainians and their commitment to continue defending their country.
