On the sidelines of the Spring Meetings in Washington, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva.
"A year ago, in the IMF office, we agreed on ways to financially support Ukraine. We talked about USD 5 billion in monthly budget support. During this time, we have not only successfully passed a difficult financial year, but now have a large program for the next four years worth USD 15.6 billion. We thank and appreciate this assistance," said Denys Shmyhal.
The parties discussed the implementation of reforms and further progress towards recovery and development. The Prime Minister noted that Ukraine needs USD 14 billion for a rapid recovery this year. In this context, he said, further work within the Multi-agency Donor Coordination Platform is important.
"This platform is one of the best tools for interaction. Thank you for your leadership in its establishment. We are confident that the platform will bring us positive results in all areas: financing the budget deficit, restoration, confiscation of frozen russian assets, which will become the main source for the reconstruction of Ukraine," the Head of the Ukrainian Government emphasized.
The Prime Minister added that thanks to the IMF and the G7 countries, Ukraine would have access to USD 115 billion in long-term support.
