Law enforcement officers have stopped an international channel for supplying cocaine from Spain to Ukraine, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.

“According to the investigation, the illegal transfer of cocaine from the Kingdom of Spain to Ukraine was organized by members of a criminal group. After crossing the state border, the narcotic was sent to Kyiv using the services of one of the popular logistics companies. In this way, the smuggling was disguised as ordinary postal shipments,” the Telegram channel report said on Monday.

During the special operation, law enforcement seized about 3 kg of cocaine worth over 18.5 million hryvnias. This is approximately three thousand doses that could have entered the black market.

Two people have now been charged under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal acquisition, storage, transportation for sale of narcotic substances in particularly large quantities). The court has chosen pre-trial detention for both for 60 days without the right to bail.

They face up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
