Kernel Holding S.A, one of the world's largest producers and exporters of sunflower oil, announced that the plant in western Ukraine was damaged by a Russian drone attack, leading to a suspension of operations.
The company, which is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, reported the incident.
The company noted that the fire caused by the attack has been extinguished.
"Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack," the statement said.
Currently, Kernel employees are assessing the extent of the damage. The plant, located in the Khmelnytskyi region, is the largest in Ukraine, known as the Starokostiantyniv Oil Extraction Plant, which began operations in April this year.
Before the war, Kernel was the world's largest producer and exporter of sunflower oil, a leading producer and supplier of agricultural products from the Black Sea region to global markets. The company's vertically integrated structure includes the production, export, and domestic sales of sunflower oil, high-tech crop farming, grain exports, as well as providing grain storage and transshipment services at elevators and port terminals.
