On September 27, a prosthetics and orthotics laboratory was opened at the University Hospital of Kharkiv National Medical University.

The Kharkiv City Council reported the news.

“In Ukraine, there are currently many people with amputations among both military personnel and civilians, but there is a shortage of trained specialists. This is a challenge for the education system. I hope this laboratory will become a flagship for the Kharkiv region,” said Health Minister Viktor Liashko during the opening.

The laboratory is equipped with modern technology and will provide a full rehabilitation cycle as well as training for medical specialists.

The event was also attended by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, Minister of Social Policy, Family and Unity Denys Uliutin, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation in Ukraine Juan Pedro Scherer, and regional leadership.

“First and foremost, this is support for people who were injured during the war. They need to stay close to their families, not leave the city. In addition, we must preserve the educational potential in the city. Today we have taken the first step, and we will continue to create rehabilitation centers and other facilities so that our people, despite the war, receive all the necessary assistance,” the mayor concluded.
