A Russian reconnaissance drone monitored the convoy of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock during her visit to Mykolaiv in Ukraine on February 25th. The first reports about this came from the German publications Bild and ZDF. The German Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Defense confirmed this information, as reported by Deutsche Welle.
According to Bild, the drone tracked Baerbock during her visit to a desalination plant near Mykolaiv, which was built with the participation of Germany. The visit to the plant was canceled prematurely, but the drone continued to monitor the minister's convoy before flying away.
As noted by ZDF, reconnaissance drone flights are typically followed by air strikes, so the German Foreign Ministry decided that Baerbock should leave Ukraine immediately. Baerbock and members of the German delegation left Mykolaiv in armored vehicles and then crossed the border into Moldova.
Annalena Baerbock arrived in Ukraine on February 24th, on the second anniversary of the full-scale war. On the first day, she visited Odessa, and on the second day, Mykolaiv.
