Search operations are continuing in the settlement of Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia region, following the Russian airstrike on 2 November. So far, the bodies of 53 people have been recovered from the rubble.

Yuliia Barysheva, spokesperson for the State Emergency Service in the Zaporizhzhia region, announced the figures during an interagency press conference.

"Rescuers have now recovered 53 bodies. Around 50 more people are still considered missing. Search operations are continuing," she said.

In addition to local rescue teams and search dog units, emergency personnel from other Ukrainian regions are working at the site. Rescuers are being transported to the location in armoured vehicles. Operations are complicated by the constant threat of further Russian shelling and attacks, forcing emergency teams to suspend their work periodically.

Rescue dog handler said that the large amount of dust at the site was another major obstacle. Rescuers and their specially trained dogs are searching the area for the bodies and remains of those killed.

On 2 November, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Komyshuvakha, deliberately targeting an underground school where civilians were receiving humanitarian aid. Approximately 100 people may have been present at the facility when the strike occurred.
