A Russian Su-24MR reconnaissance aircraft violated Poland's airspace in the eastern part of the Gdańsk Bay.

This was reported by the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.

The aircraft, which was flying from the Kaliningrad area, entered Polish airspace at 14:09, penetrating 6.5 kilometers and staying there for 1 minute and 12 seconds.

Poland's radar stations tracked the movement of the reconnaissance aircraft in real-time. Polish airspace monitoring services maintained contact with the Russian side, which stated that the airspace violation occurred due to a "navigation system failure" of the Su-24MR.

"The personnel of the Polish air defense system conduct round-the-clock surveillance of Polish airspace, remaining in constant readiness to ensure its security," the message reads

It should be noted that the violation of Polish airspace could have been a deliberate action aimed at provocation or radar reconnaissance. Russian Su-24MR aircraft regularly fly over the Baltic Sea, coming close to NATO airspace.
