On the night of September 3 (starting from 16:00 on September 2), the Russian forces carried out a combined strike on the territory of Ukraine using attack UAVs, as well as air- and sea-launched missiles. In total, during the attack, the radar units of the Air Force detected and tracked 526 aerial threats:
- 502 Shahed-type attack UAVs and various decoy drones launched from Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Orel, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia) and Chauda (temporarily occupied Crimea);
- 16 Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea;
- 8 Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from the airspace over Saratov Oblast and Krasnodar Krai.
The air assault was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 09:00, air defense forces shot down or suppressed 451 aerial targets:
- 430 Shahed-type UAVs and various decoy drones;
- 14 Kalibr cruise missiles;
- 7 Kh-101 cruise missiles.
There were recorded impacts from three missiles and 69 attack UAVs across 14 locations, as well as debris from intercepted targets falling at 14 sites.
