Losses and results of the Russian forces offensive for… almost all of March in numbers

As of March 31, 2025, Russian forces have seized 130 km² of Ukrainian territory. The pace of advance remains among the slowest since the first quarter of 2024.

At the same time, Russian forces personnel losses for March (minus one day) amount to 39,620, meaning that for every 1 km² of Ukrainian land captured since the beginning of the month, 304 Russian bodies were left behind. On average, that's just over three companies per 1 km².

Moreover, the ratio of losses continues to rise both on a monthly and quarterly basis.

Since the beginning of 2025, Russian forces have occupied 640 km² of Ukrainian territory, while their losses have totaled 124,430 personnel, or 194 bodies per 1 km².

For comparison, in 2024, the average Russian forces loss-to-territory ratio was 129 bodies per 1 km². By January 2025, this figure had already risen to 148 per 1 km².

The trend of high Russian forces losses alongside shrinking territorial gains persists.
