The Ministry of Defense will provide funding for the sapper units of the State Special Transport Service. For this purpose, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated UAH 788.8 million from the reserve fund of the state budget.
With this funding, the State Special Transport Service will purchase for the sappers:
- Unmanned aerial vehicles
- Metal detectors equipped with tools for detecting mines
- Vehicles and engineering equipment for the construction of fortifications
"Currently, 400 mobile sapper teams of the State Special Transport Service are working on demining Ukrainian territories, overcoming centimeters every day to clear areas of the consequences of war. These people are brave and professional; most of them have undergone special training and risk their lives every day. Therefore, it is the duty of the Ministry of Defense to provide them with everything they need," commented Deputy Minister of Defense Yuriy Dzhigir.
The provision of equipment and technology to these groups will accelerate the pace of demining, strengthen fortification lines, and reduce risks to the lives and health of sappers.
